The Mueller investigation is due to be finished any day now — and President Donald Trump wants the public to see the results of the special counsel’s expensive probe.
After labeling the probe into Russian election meddling as a partisan witch hunt that unfairly targeted the White House, now Trump is encouraging the results of two-year long investigation to come out.
The results will vindicate him, the president says.
“Let it come out,” he said, “let people see it. Let’s see whether or not it’s legit.”
Like the public, Trump seems exhausted with the probe — and wants to show America what it was all really about.
“I want to see the report. You know who wants to see it? The tens of millions of people that love the fact that we have the greatest economy we’ve ever had,” Trump said. “I look forward to seeing the report.”
Trump’s change of tone may be due to the whispers going around Washington D.C. Not only is Mueller’s probe expected soon, it’s also been rumored to release with nothing.
The clock has been ticking on the special counsel’s quest for some time; so far it’s been nothing but inefficient. Two long years to link Trump to Russia, only a few white collar criminal arrests for tax misdeeds long before the Trump campaign to show for it all.
When the whole ordeal wraps up, critics say it will land be a soft whimper. And the Democratic lawmakers’ recent moves suggest they already know that this investigation is much ado about nothing.
They’re scrambling to change the subject.
For example, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and House Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., have called for the investigation of a spa parlor owner who might know the president. Pelosi is also trying to save face by denouncing the threat of impeachment
Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-M.D., has even demanded a probe into Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner, most notably accusing him for conducting official business on a smartphone app
The Democrats have resorted to plain ridiculousness, Trump supporters said. They’re leaving no stone unturned. But they’re finding nothing. And according to the president, the radical left is in store for a heartbreak.
“I just won one of the greatest elections of all time in the history of this country. … And now I have somebody writing a report that never got a vote?” Trump said. “It’s called the Mueller report. So explain that because my voters don’t get it. And I don’t get it.”
Though the Mueller report had no end date, pundits have increasingly suggested that the end is just days away, with two of Mueller’s prosecutors leaving in recent months.
