President Donald Trump ripped into The New York Times on Thursday after the newspaper reported he tried to fire Special Counsel Robert Mueller in December.
“If I wanted to fire Robert Mueller in December, as reported by the Failing New York Times, I would have fired him,” the president reported on Twitter.
Just more Fake News from a biased newspaper!” he added.

In a article published Tuesday titled, “Trump Sought to Fire Mueller in December,” The Times reported that that Trump allegedly “told advisers in no uncertain terms that Mr. Mueller’s investigation had to be shut down.”
Trump has pushed back against those claims stating if he wanted to fire Mueller, he already would have.
On Tuesday, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said that Trump believes he has the power to fire Mueller. Both the Democratic and Republican parties have cautioned Trump against it.
