President Donald Trump on Thursday morning announced that he will be “bringing out the military” to stop the migrant caravan from crossing the U.S. border.
Earlier this week Trump had suggested that he was putting the military on notice and that he may call them over to the border to secure that no caravan was able to cross over.
In an early morning tweet, Trump said that Democratic inspired laws are preventing the appropriate response to prevent this “National Emergency”, but he added that the caravan “will be stopped!”
“Brandon Judd of the National Border Patrol Council is right when he says on @foxandfriends that the Democrat inspired laws make it tough for us to stop people at the Border. MUST BE CHANDED, but I am bringing out the military for this National Emergency. They will be stopped!”

Trump had previously stated that he may take military action to stop the caravan from crossing the southern border. The migrant caravan has quickly grown from 7,000 people to roughly 7,500.
“I must, in the strongest of terms, ask Mexico to stop this onslaught – and if unable to do so I will call up the U.S. Military and CLOSE OUR SOUTHERN BORDER!” Trump tweeted.
According to NBC News, at a rally in Wisconsin on Wednesday night, the president stated that the U.S. will have a “very secure border” and that the “military are ready.”
The White House and Pentagon have not yet commented on when the president plans to deploy the military, but the Mexican ambassador to the U.S. has emphasized that he will work closely with the Trump administration on securing the border.
