Conservatives have long complained that their voices are being censored on major social media outlets like Facebook and Twitter.
Now, just four months before a pivotal election between President Donald Trump and challenger Joe Biden, Facebook has done the unthinkable.
The social media giant has hired a key member of a team that led a two-year witch hunt against Trump.
And he’s going to play a huge role in overseeing content.
You may have heard of attorney Michael Marando before.
Marando was part of former Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s team that conducted a bogus investigation into collusion between Russia and Trump’s 2016 campaign.
And Marando was also one of the prosecutors in the case against Trump ally Roger Stone. Those prosecutors were so overzealous that a federal judge threw out their sentencing recommendations and Trump ended up commuting Stone’s sentence.
Now, according to Bloomberg, Marando is leaving the Justice Department for Silicon Valley.
And he’ll be in charge of setting policy for content on Facebook.
If that doesn’t send chills up the spines of conservatives, nothing will.
Social media sites are increasingly under scrutiny for what many see as liberal bias. Some have even been accused of trying to intentionally thwart Trump’s agenda.
Once upon a time a rogue Twitter employee, during his last day on the job, actually removed Trump’s Twitter account in 2017.
It was quickly restored — but then Twitter temporarily suspended Trump’s account last month for alleged “hateful conduct” after he threatened to use force to quell protests.
