Sen. Susan Collins, R-M.E., said Monday that she would wear a bikini on the floor of the U.S. Senate after Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer secretly scrapped the dress code.
According to an Axios report, Schumer is trying to lure Sen. John Fetterman, D-P.A., to stay on the floor and interact with other Democratic senators.

Fetterman refuses to wear a suit to abide by the Senate dress code, and instead wears shorts, hoodies, and sneakers while performing his daily duties as a lawmaker.
Since taking office (and when not hospitalized), Fetterman skirts the dress code. He votes from the door of the Democrat coatroom by yelling “Aye” or “Nay” from the doorway rather than put on a suit and tie.
Schumer quietly changed the dress code rules to allow senators to dress however they want this week.
“Senators are able to choose what they wear on the Senate floor. I will continue to wear a suit,” Schumer said about the decision.
So Collins, 70 years old, joked that she’d “wear a bikini” while slamming Schumer’s decision to debase “the institution” because his rule still requires aides and other workers, just not senators, to abide by the dress code.

“Obviously, I’m not going to wear a bikini,” Collins said. “But the fact is, as I understand it, I could!”
On social media, Collins’ remarks were met with cheers (and jeers).

She has threatened to and I hope she really DOES wear a bikini on the senate floor.
