For years, Fox News host Sean Hannity has been known for broadcasting his popular radio show from his home studio on Long Island, New York… but not anymore.
Hannity, 62, announced his intention move to Florida during his iHeartRadio show Tuesday.
“I’ve been threatening now to do this for quite a while, but we are now, beginning our first broadcast from my new home and that is in the free state of Florida,” Hannity said. “I am out. I am done. I’m finished.”
Hannity has, in fact, been threatening to leave New York for a decade. In 2014, Hannity floated the possibility of leaving New York City over the income tax, prompting a dare from liberal comedian Jon Stewart.
“And finally for the first time that I can think of in my adult life, I actually have representatives in the state that I’m living in that share my values,” Hannity said, namechecking Republican Sens. Marco Rubio and Rick Scott.
“Like so many Americans, I left New York for good, and am now in the state with, let’s see: warmer weather, law and order, better education, more freedom, better quality of life and guess what? No state income tax,” Hannity said.
“If anything, I’m probably late and behind the curve, and many others have made the move beforehand — and there’s not a single person that I know that made a move like this that is not happy that they’ve made it.”
In 2022’s U.S. Census estimate, Florida ranked as the fastest-growing state by population. Florida last held that distinction in 1957. Besides Hannity, the Sunshine State has also welcomed another conservative New Yorker: former President Donald Trump, a full-time resident since 2019.
Hannity has become the subject of some jokes about his loyalty to the former president, but the Fox News star has maintained a presence in Florida for years. Since 2021, he’s owned a townhouse in Palm Beach outside Miami, and he mentioned a condo in Naples as early as 2013
It remains unclear where Hannity’s physical workplace is now. Zoning codes in Palm Beach prohibit residents from operating businesses in their homes, according to local media. However, Hannity is still broadcasting from 3 to 6 p.m. on iHeartRadio.
The talk show host has reportedly owned real estate in Texas, Vermont, Georgia, Alabama, and North Carolina.
Last year, Hannity praised about Tennessee’s lack of a state income tax, and he said on air, “I am a fool for not living here.”
