Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Texas, was reportedly caught on tape berating her staff in a profane meltdown late last week — and we have the explosive audio.
Conservative outlet Current Revolt first posted the audio clip on Saturday. The audio seems to have been recorded by the staffer himself.
The explicit audio begins as the unnamed staffer promises to contact another person in Jackson Lee’s office about a paper given to the two of them concerning Ovide Duncantell, who founded the Houston Black Heritage Society in 1975.
Jackson Lee immediately loses her cool and begins cursing at the staffer.
“I don’t want you to do a g*dd*mn thing. I want you to have a f**king brain! I want you to have read it. I want you to say ‘Congresswoman, with such and such date.’ That’s what I want. That’s the kind of staff that I want to have,” she said.
“So, some stupid other motherf**ker did it. And I don’t have the information. Nobody sent me the information. I need to ensure schedule and, uh, you know, if Boo Boo did it, sh*ta** did it, f**kface did it,” Jackson Lee is heard saying. “And nobody knows a g*dd*mn thing in my office! Okay? Nothing.”
“I gave it to you. Your job was to get it on the calendar, imprint it in your brain, or send me the information back saying, ‘Congresswoman, I made sure that the Ovide Ducantell event that you gave me for a so-and-so date at seven is on the f**king calendar.’ Not to ‘Oh Jerome has it.’ Okay?” she continued.
“So when I called Jerome, he only sitting up there like a fata** stupid idiot talking about what the f**k he doesn’t know. Okay?” Jackson Lee is heard saying. “Both of y’all are f**k ups [inaudible]. It’s the worst sh*t that I could have ever had put together. Two g*dd*mn big ass children f**king idiots serve no g*dd*mn purpose. Ain’t managing nobody. Nobody’s respecting them.”
“Nobody gives a sh*t about what you’re doing and you ain’t doing sh*t,” the audio concludes. “And this is an example of it. I gave it to Jerome. This is not child’s work.”
Jackson Lee has been surrounded by controversy since taking office and has repeatedly been accused of severely mistreating staffers.
Over the years, she reportedly has earned the reputation as running one of the worst, most abusive congressional offices in the country.
Jackson Lee has previously ordered staff to treat her as “a queen” and, in 2019, was credibly accused of sweeping rape accusations under the rug, forcing her to resign as the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s board chairwoman and from the House Judiciary Committee at the time.
She has since been restored to numerous House committees by Democratic Party allies.
Jackson Lee is currently running as a Democratic candidate for Houston mayor. Her office dismissed the audio as a political tactic to the Houston Chronicle.
“This is a low handed political tactic meant to discredit a thriving mayoral campaign and distract voters ahead of the early voting period,” Jackson Lee’s campaign told the Chronicle in its statement. “It’s unsurprising that these attacks have originated from extremely conservative blogs and political operatives backing John Whitmire.”
Whitmire is the leading Democratic candidate in the Houston 2023 mayoral election according to recent polls.
