After alleged concerns over COVID-19 watered down the integrity of election laws nationwide, Democrats walked away with control of two branches of government—and they desperately want to get their hands on the third.
Now, a top Democratic lawyer has predicted that they are about to take another step toward complete left-wing control of the U.S. government… and the American people aren’t far from another confirmation battle for the Supreme Court.
Democrats have been pressuring leaders to stack the Supreme Court by adding extra nominees—and lobbying for elderly Supreme Court justices to step aside so they can put a young left-winger on the High Court for life.
“That’s why there’s so much effort to try to get my friend (Supreme Court Justice) Steve Breyer to resign, so that he can be replaced by a younger, liberal Democrat,” said Alan Dershowitz, a well-known legal analyst and professor at Harvard Law School. Dershowitz is a registered Democrat, but frequently defended former President Trump from media and political attacks he deemed unfair.
Democrats still haven’t gotten over the fact that their favorite justice — Ruth Bader Ginsburg — died in office… and let Trump replace her with conservative Judge Amy Coney Barrett. They don’t ever want that to happen again.
Now that they have a paper-thin majority in Congress, they want the 82-year-old Breyer to resign—and according to Dershowitz, an expert court-watcher and close friend of the justice, Breyer is going to listen to them.
Breyer will quit, he said—but not just yet. “Next August, he will retire,” he said. “My prediction: One year from now, after next term, he will leave,” Dershowitz told Newsmax’s Carl Higbie on the “Saturday Report.”
Dershowitz said that leftists actually hurt themselves by pushing Breyer so hard to resign.
“He might have left earlier if not for the pressures,” Dershowitz said.
Liberals have brought heavy pressure on the octogenarian justice. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez told CNN that she believes, “yes,” Justice Breyer should get out of the way and make room for a younger person.
But it’s also coming from the establishment wing of the Democratic Party. A group called Demand Justice, which is led by Brian Fallon — a major player in Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign and former employee of Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer — has publicly called for Breyer to quit so that Joe Biden can appoint a young, left-wing minority woman to his spot.
Demand Justice paid for a truck to drive around Washington, D.C., flashing the message: “Breyer, retire. It’s time for a Black woman Supreme Court justice. There’s no time to waste.”
That over-the-top demand may have blown up in their faces.
Breyer “does not want to be perceived as giving in to pressures,” said Dershowitz, “so he’s going to wait a year.”
“That will give the president the power to appoint somebody before there’s a new Senate. So, everybody on the left will be happy, and Breyer will be able to say, ‘I didn’t give into pressure.’ That’s my prediction,” Dershowitz told Newsmax.
That’s going to give the Democrats a year to get ready for a confirmation fight. The last two confirmations—especially Brett Kavanaugh—have been brutal.
That means Biden can take a year picking out the person he thinks will give him the least amount of problems.
It gives Democratic consultants a year to craft the perfect message to sell their candidate—and slam their enemies.
And it gives them a year to scrub social media messages, edit Wikipedia entries, and generally set the stage to roll out their nominee in the best possible light.
That makes it even harder for Republicans to fight against stacking the Court with left-wing extremists.
This is all part of a multi-prong Democratic Party plan to sew up control of every power source in government.
President Biden moved to lock down the executive branch, firing anybody who seems to have any shred of loyalty to President Donald Trump.
In Congress, Vice President Kamala Harris gives Senate Majority Leader a one-vote margin to rubber stamp any bill that Speaker Nancy Pelosi pushes through the House.
But the courts are the problem. Donald Trump totally remade the judicial branch.
He appointed three Supreme Court justices—Barrett, Kavanaugh, and Neil Gorsuch. But he also put conservatives on the bench at every level. President Trump appointed almost as many federal appeals court judges in one term as Barack Obama did in eight. All in all, Trump appointed 226 federal judges.
These judges could stop Biden — and Harris’ — agenda dead in its tracks. Gun control, socialist medical schemes, abortion-on-demand? The right combination of judges could strike them all down.
Or, the wrong set of judges could keep on legislating from the bench, the way judicial activists have done for decades before conservatives finally got a majority of Supreme Court justices last year.
“There’s a tremendous amount at stake: the Second Amendment, the First Amendment, and the Constitution in general,” said Dershowitz.
Do you really want somebody loyal to Joe Biden and Kamala Harris making those decisions?
