In 2019, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., was reportedly the nation’s second most talked-about politician, after former President Donald Trump.
However, New York City Mayor Eric Adams declared himself “the face of the new Democratic Party” in a speech last year… and Ocasio-Cortez isn’t speaking to him.

Adams met Ocasio-Cortez in July. He had recently won the Democratic primary for New York City’s mayoral race, and he met with the entire state’s congressional delegation, in accordance with a longstanding custom.
That was the last time they spoke one-on-one, according to a bombshell report from The New York Times.
“Despite their prominence and proximity, Ms. Ocasio-Cortez and Mr. Adams have had no public events together and have not spoken one-on-one since the July meeting,” the Times reported.
Still, the two New Yorkers have spoken of each other to the press… and they haven’t always spoken positively.
Adams criticized Ocasio-Cortez’s famous, “Tax the rich,” dress last year. He told CNBC that he preferred to focus on cutting public waste over raising the city’s revenue.
Granted, he took no issue with the style of the dress. Earlier this month, he appeared in his own coat emblazoned with the slogan, “End gun violence.”
Plus, each politician’s office claims to cooperate with the other.
According to the Times, the two politicians are pushing for a grant for City Island, a part of New York City in Ocasio-Cortez’s district.

New York has seen other political feuds, like the childish squabbling between former Mayor Bill de Blasio and former Governor Andrew Cuomo — two Democrats who pointed fingers at each other during the darkest days of the pandemic.
By comparison, this feud looks mild, even if it involves more glamorous articles of clothing.
