Legendary NFL quarterback Tom Brady hasn’t stepped on the field for a couple of seasons now.
But the QB-turned-broadcaster finds himself in potential hot water with his former employer for something he didn’t do on the gridiron.
During yesterday’s national broadcast on Fox of the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers, Brady was one of the broadcasters for the game.
Lions defensive back Brian Branch was ejected from the game after a hit on Packers’ wide receiver Bo Melton, a decision that was met with some controversy as being excessive.
Brady did not appear to agree with the officials decision to eject Branch, and made critical comments about the call on-air.
Normally this would be okay for most color commentators like Brady, but due to Brady’s status as a minority owner of the Raiders as well as an analyst on Fox for NFL broadcasts, Brady has certain rules that he has to abide by in the booth.
The big no-no according to the rules is that Brady can’t criticize the refs during a broadcast.
“I don’t love that call at all,” Brady said during the broadcast. “Obviously it’s a penalty, but to me, there has to be serious intent in a game like this.”
According to report, tt remains unclear if Brady would be facing any issues from his comments about the call, but it will be the first real test of the restrictions on him in the booth.
Brady also ruffled feathers during last week’s broadcast when he described Bills quarterback Josh Allen as a “spaz” while calling the Bills game against the Seahawks.
