President Joe Biden is facing new questions over his health after the 78-year-old’s recent string of concerning public appearances.
Sky News Australia posted a video with the headline “Joe Biden needs help from Jill Biden as he is ‘cognitively impaired’” featuring Australian journalist and New York Post columnist Miranda Devine.

Devine noted that first lady Jill Biden had been next to the president as he spoke to Univision on immigration issues.
“She was prompting him when he forgot words because he is cognitively impaired, that’s clear,” Devine said. “It waxes and wanes, but he still is very foggy.”
The first lady even inserted herself into the interview.
“She also in fact interrupted him at one point to answer a question better than he had been answering it,” Devine said. “She’s not elected. She shouldn’t be doing that. It’s pretty bad.”
lots to unpack in this 1-minute clip from @UniNoticias:

Instead of speaking to the media, Devine noted, Biden does scripted events where he is supposed to read something.
But she said even those events often go poorly.

“He loses his train of thought. He stumbles over words,” Devine said. “He just doesn’t seem to comprehend what he’s reading.”
Devine is hardly the only one raising questions over the president’s cognitive health.
“It’s getting a little scary,” Fox News host Sean Hannity also said recently. “It’s funny because the media was attacking me for saying that Joe looks weak and he looks frail and he’s struggling cognitively. Well, every day now, pretty much, when he speaks, when he’s allowed to speak, he’s struggling.”
In a separate interview with Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., Hannity compared the Biden of today to the one who debated GOP vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan in 2012.
“I see dramatic, significant decline,” Hannity observed. “He looks weak, frail, and obviously he’s struggling cognitively. Senator, if you disagree, tell me I’m wrong.”
Rubio didn’t disagree.
“If you’re a foreign leader and you’re watching this stuff, they’re going to make their own assessments of what they think they can get away with,” he said. “Are they dealing with a weak leader? Are they dealing with someone that doesn’t have control of the situation?”

That lack of control, he suggested, could mean Biden is “just an instrument and a puppet for the radical out-of-control lunacy.”
A growing number of Americans are also concerned. One in three surveyed by Business Insider said they were either “not so confident” or “not at all confident” in Biden’s mental sharpness.
That number could grow if the president continues to avoid any kind of public back-and-forth.
One strange incident this past week highlights the situation.
Biden held a virtual meeting with Congressional leaders, then seemed ready to engage in some Q-and-A.
“I’m happy to take questions, if that’s what I’m supposed to do, Nance,” he said, apparently referring to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. “Whatever you want me to do.”

He said he’d take questions. But if he did, the public didn’t get to see it as the White House abruptly cut the video:
"I'm happy to take questions, if that's what I'm supposed to do, Nance. Whatever you want me to do."

Biden also rarely engages with the press during the campaign, using the social distancing rules of the coronavirus pandemic as an excuse.
Now, he works just a short walk from a room where he could hold a safe and socially distanced media availability any time he wants.

Yet he hasn’t done so – and even those in the friendly territory of CNN have noticed, with the network pointing out that Biden has yet to hold a formal news conference.
.@Kevinliptakcnn notes that an analysis of the past 100 years shows President Biden’s 15 most recent predecessors all held a formal solo press conference within 33 days of taking office. Biden has not and it’s day 42.

The longest any of the previous 15 presidents have gone without doing so has been 33 days… but Biden has now gone more than 45 days and counting.
Perhaps, the idea that this is “concerning” is putting it lightly.
