Between Joe Biden’s family, Nancy Pelosi’s stock options, and the rest of the Swamp, you might think the worst politicians are in Washington, D.C. … but that would leave out so many other alleged crooks.
Critics say one of the most corrupt officials in the country is be sitting less than an hour’s drive from Washington, and she’s as liberal a Democrat as there is, but you may have never heard of her.
She is Baltimore State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby, the city’s head prosecutor. Once you know her story, you might agree she redefines corruption in politics as we know it.
She has been indicted for four felonies… and that doesn’t even include her latest and greatest scandal.
The latest news is that her campaign, the Friends of Marilyn Mosby, received a campaign donation from her grandfather.
A check from her grandpa, Prescott Thompson, allegedly landed in her campaign coffers last November 30.
It’s not usually a scandal for a family member to support his granddaughter’s political aspirations—except for one problem. Prescott Thompson had died almost seven years earlier, on February 22, 2015, at the age of 82.
What’s worse, it isn’t even the first check her grandpa allegedly wrote from beyond the grave.
Marilyn Mosby banked a $500 check from “Thompson Prescott” — from the same address as her grandfather — on July 18, 2017, two years after he was dead and buried.
The campaign finance report says her grandfather was “retired,” which seems to be an understatement.
Guess who controls her grandparents’ estate? Baltimore City Council President Nick Mosby, the husband of Marylin Mosby.
Her grandparents, Prescott and Marilyn Thompson, signed a Power of Attorney in 2004 to give Nick Mosby financial control of their money.
Funny as it is, after Nick had power of attorney, the Thompsons started writing him and Marilyn Mosby checks. Mosby’s grandma, Marilyn Thompson, gave Nick $600 when he thought about running for mayor of Baltimore, and she’s given $1,750 to Marilyn Mosby down through the years.
Local journalists are asking if she is really the one writing the checks.
“Did Nick Mosby sign these checks as POA, which are recorded in campaign records as coming directly from Marilyn and the deceased Prescott Thompson?” asked The Brew, a local paper in Baltimore.
Nick obtained Power of Attorney in November 2004, when he said he would use the money to buy a townhouse in Baltimore. And he did: He and the Thompsons are listed as the owners.
But last year, he got another mortgage, which he signed in the name of Prescott Thompson’s trust, even though the Power of Attorney should have ended when he died years ago.
What a tangled web he weaves!
It could be even worse than it looks because Marilyn Mosby’s campaign filed this report less than one week after federal authorities indicted her for reportedly lying about being affected by COVID-19 in order to tap into a huge pile of money tax-free.
She’s a government employee with a retirement plan called a 457(b), something like a 401(k) but even better. Government workers sock money away for retirement but aren’t supposed to withdraw funds early. If they do, they face a tax penalty.
But thanks to COVID, the government suspended those rules, saying anyone could take money out of their retirement plan penalty-free if they need to because they’re hurting financially from the pandemic.
Marilyn Mosby said she had been hurt by the lockdowns, even though she actually had nearly a $10,000 raise in 2020!
In 2020, she earned almost $248,000, up from $238,772.04 in 2019.
She used the money to put a down payment on a vacation home in Kissimmee, Florida—not the action of somebody who’s living hand-to-mouth.
She’s been indicted for four felonies which her lawyer says are totally “motivated by political and racial animus.”
Mosby has even asked for a trial faster than May 2… because she wants to file paperwork to run for re-election!
Haven’t people who live in the crime-plagued city of Baltimore paid enough for her “services”?
