Since leaving office, former President Donald Trump has gained a reputation for hosting holiday fundraisers full of distinguished guests.
On Sunday, Trump spent the Superbowl with a more unlikely guest: football coach Urban Meyer.
On Monday, Twitter user @PatriotTakes tweeted, “Donald Trump held a Super Bowl party at his Palm Beach golf club. That’s former Jaguars coach Urban Meyer at his table.”

Meyer has gained attention for his volatility. He earned three national titles while coaching college football between 2001 and 2010. Then, he retired to become an analyst for Fox Sports, before joining the N.F.L. to coach the Jacksonville Jaguars — based in Trump’s home state.
Meyer saw his reputation decline from there. He was fired 13 games into his only N.F.L. season, after an assault allegation from Jaguars kicker Josh Lambo.
“Everyone hates that motherf***er,” an unnamed coach once said of Meyer, according to sportscaster Brett McMurphy.
In other words, Meyer turned heads as an unlikely guest at Trump’s party.
Trump, a businessman, has hosted a string of fundraisers since leaving office in 2021. In October, The Horn News reported on his Halloween party full of internet personalities.
More recently, The New York Times wrote Saturday:
In early December, Donald J. Trump put on a tuxedo and boarded the private jet of a scrap-metal magnate and crypto-miner for a short flight across Florida, touching down at an airport in Naples. There, a long red carpet marked the pathway into a Christmas-decorated hangar filled with supporters of Mr. Trump who had paid $10,000 to $30,000 for the privilege of attending a party and taking a photo with him.
The event had all the trappings of a typical high-end fund-raiser: a giant American flag, a lectern, chandeliers and an open bar. Frank Stallone’s band provided the music; an anti-Biden “Let’s Go Brandon” banner hung from the rafters.
