Democrats are overjoyed by the conviction of President Donald Trump on 34 felony counts last week—but turnabout is fair play, and a whole host of Democratic Party leaders may be in line to experience the wrong end of the justice system.
Liberal prosecutors threaten to imprison Trump, or confine him under house arrest, throughout the 2024 presidential election.
When asked by reporters last Thursday if he planned to recommend Trump do time in jail, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg did not say no.
“The judge scheduled a sentencing for July 11. We will speak in court at that time,” he said.
President Joe Biden broke his formal silence on the issue, gleefully referring to his predecessor as a “convicted felon.”
But now that the Democrats have broken the norms of our constitutional republic by prosecuting the president, the Left will have to grapple with the consequences of its own decisions.
Polls show Trump surging—and his campaign coffers have filled with more than $200 million since the verdict.
But critics say if Trump wins the 2024 election, the jail cellss may soon swell with former, or current, Democratic officials guilty of far more than the bizarre campaign finance charge Bragg prosecuted.
Some are taking bets about who will be the first Democrat to face the music in the next Republican administration.
Joe Biden comes to mind: House Republicans have not brought serious impeachment charges against him in the evenly divided Senate, but they have turned up reams of evidence linking the president—and his entire family—to a foreign influence-peddling operation that netted them millions over the years.
The financial net reportedly includes several Biden brothers, including James, the president’s sister-in-law Sara, Hunter Biden and his ex, and even a few of the grandchildren.
Hunter Biden is also on the list. Although his trial for falsifying a federal gun application is currently underway—a trial many say will result in a slap on the wrist so he can slide on more serious charges—his laptop is a treasure trove of criminal evidence.
He could face time for money laundering, influence peddling, acting as an unregistered foreign agent, or his many drug and prostitution crimes.

There’s always Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., who may have married her own brother to get around U.S. immigration laws.
A previous investigation from the Minnesota Campaign Finance and Public Disclosure Board found the Somali refugee-turned-congresswoman had violated campaign finance laws—like the ones Bragg turned into felonies when trying Donald Trump—at least five times.
Former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., has become one of the wealthiest members of Congress thanks to investing skills on behalf of her husband, Paul—skills many experts say are so exceptional, they’re likely based on inside information.
Pelosi’s dirty deals don’t end there: She held a congressional hearing in 2010 for a service that would benefit one of her top campaign donors.
Is that a “quid pro quo”? Federal investigators may want to find out.
Her counterpart in the Senate could also be in hot water.
“Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) uses the threat and promise of public policy to shake down hedge funds so they will donate to Democrats and hire his aides as lobbyists,” wrote Tim Carney in The Washington Examiner.
A dark-hrose candidate for the first liberal to do jail time in a Republican administration is Dr. Anthony Fauci, who addressed Congress this week.
The COVID chief and longtime leader of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) repeatedly said, under oath, that the U.S. does not fund gain-of-function research.
But he’s backtracked numerous times, including in a recent appearance, after documents proved he had funded the EcoHealth Alliance, led by Peter Daszak.
EcoHealth Alliance funded gain-of-function research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, where the novel coronavirus first appeared.
“If Trump is reelected, will you guys be making a recommendation to the Trump Justice Department to arrest Anthony Fauci for perjury?” asked
“It sure looks like that’s a strong possibility” said Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., who has led the congressional Republicans’ investigation of Hunter Biden.
“I would do that,” added Comer, who is the chairman of the House Oversight and Accountability Committee. “We’re going to go line-by-line through every answer he gave.”

Comer, the House GOP’s top investigative leader, is actually late to the party on Fauci. The move to arrest, try, and convict Anthony Fauci of perjury, if not other crimes, is led by his Kentucky Senate counterpart, Senator Rand Paul.
“I don’t think there’s even been a clearer case of perjury…(Fauci) said adamantly that the government never funded gain-of-function research,” Senator Paul told Fox News last August.
“The smoking gun – Fauci in private saying the opposite of what he was saying in public.”

If Tony, Nancy and Chuck, or Ilhan end up in prison, they can thank The Donald.
