Over two dozen Democratic presidential candidates will spend the next years traveling across the country trying to convince voters that they can defeat President Donald Trump in 2020.
But Sen. Ted Cruz, R-T.X. just gave his shocking 2020 prediction by revealing that only three Democrats have a real chance at even competing — and he’s not sure Trump can beat them.
Most Republicans have been extremely confident about Trump’s chances against whoever the Democrats put up on the ballot.
But Cruz says it’ll come down to a coin flip…

In an interview with PBS host Margaret Hoover, Cruz said Sens. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., Elizabeth Warren, D-M.A., and Bernie Sanders, I-V.T., are the only three candidates who actually have a chance of winning the Democratic presidential nomination.
“I don’t think Joe Biden’s going to be the nominee,” Cruz said. “I think the nominee is going to come from the far left. The three who I would say are most likely are Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren, and Bernie Sanders.”
Cruz stunned many by saying he didn’t think former Vice President Joe Biden would secure the nomination, saying he’s not “radical enough” for the “new” Democratic Party.
There’s a socialist push that Biden just doesn’t fit.

Cruz also made the shocking statement that he thinks the general election will be a “coin flip” between Trump and whoever the Democratic nominee is.
He continued, “When I say the nominee is likely to be a Harris or Warren or Sanders, some Republicans go, ‘yay!’ Okay. That’s great. They’re so extreme. We win. Not necessarily.”
Cruz went on to say, “I personally handicap the 2020 election as a coin flip. … I think we are going to see staggering Democratic turnout in 2020.”
“And the reason is, look, anger is a powerful motivator,” Cruz explained. “And the far left is pissed. They are enraged by Donald Trump, and it means they’re going to show up. And the big, open question is, does everyone else show up?”

Cruz’s point isn’t necessarily that the Democratic nominee will be the overall best candidate, but that Democrats loathe Trump so much that they will turn out in record numbers to vote against the president.
Cruz told voters not to think for one second that Trump has 2020 in the bag and doesn’t need every single vote he can get.
What do you think?
Is Ted Cruz right about this?
