Every time a mass shooting takes place in America, you can bet your bottom dollar on ONE thing.
Democrats are going to take the moral high ground and spit out talking points that charm the mainstream media: “Do something about gun control,” or “ban all guns.”
But Sen. Ted Cruz , R-Texas, just crushed those liberal talking points in just four words.
“Gun control doesn’t work,” he wrote on Twitter.
He went on the offensive, and newly-minted Democratic Mayor of Chicago, Lori Lightfoot, took the bait — it’s safe to say she probably wishes she hadn’t. Just the same weekend that the mass shooting in Odessa, Texas occurred, more than 25 people were shot in Chicago.
Once Cruz found this out, it was over.
“Look at Chicago,” he wrote.
Gun control doesn’t work. Look at Chicago. Disarming law-abiding citizens isn’t the answer. Stopping violent criminals—prosecuting & getting them off the street—BEFORE they commit more violent crimes is the most effective way to reduce murder rates. Let’s protect our citizens. https://t.co/znHO31gDH2

Lightfoot called Cruz a “coward.”

“Keep our name out your mouth,” Lightfoot wrote, speaking on behalf of Chicago Democrats.
60% of illegal firearms recovered in Chicago come from outside IL—mostly from states dominated by coward Republicans like you who refuse to enact commonsense gun legislation. Keep our name out of your mouth. https://t.co/yVM4JHL3xy pic.twitter.com/pr613A3dpf

Cruz hit her with a response that was as composed as any: “Mayor,” he wrote on Twitter, “your anger is misplaced.”
He then proceeded to drop truthbombs on Lightfoot that left the Chicago dead silent.
“Virtually every year, Chicago has the most murders of any city in America. In 2017, the top five were: Chicago (650 murders), Baltimore (343), Philadelphia (317), New York (290), and Los Angeles (286).”

“All five of those cities have had Democratic mayors for decades and aggressive gun control policies—none seems to be working.”
“Maybe, rather than getting angry when others point out the tragically high murder rate in Chicago, you put aside the partisan talking points & the failed gun-control policies Chicago has pursued for decades,” Cruz continued.
“Instead, lock up the violent criminals who are committing murder…”
Lightfoot kept quiet…
She went M.I.A., just like most Democratic leaders when they get into trouble.
