News of President Donald Trump’s federal loan freeze caused an uproar across America this week, particularly amongst Democrats who slammed the decision is illegal and unwarranted.
The decision to freeze federal loans and grants that would have potentially impacted everything from research funding to Medicaid has since been taken off of the table.
But Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) perhaps caused the biggest uproar regarding the polarizing move, to the point many social media users became sick.
Schumer claimed that he hasn’t seen “people so aroused in a very, very long time” over Trump’s federal grant freeze.
“Donald Trump, with his cruel policy, has aroused the American people and begun to show them how this administration is not for working families, but for the billionaires,” Schumer told reporters during a press conference on the White House Office of Management and Budget’s now-rescinded memo ordering a temporary freeze on federal grants and loans.
“People are aroused,” Schumer declared, claiming that local elected officials have been flooded with concerned messages from constituents over the memo.
“I haven’t seen people so aroused in a very, very long time,” the 74-year-old Democrat added.
Take a listen, straight from the horse’s mouth:
“People are aroused. I haven’t seen people so aroused in a very, very long time.”

As you can imagine, Schumer’s word choice left a swarm of social media users feeling grossed out about him using such a sexual innuendo.
“Eww!” one disgusted poster remarked after seeing the snippet of Schumer’s press conference.
“OMG! I just ate lunch!” another shocked person tweeted, including a vomiting emoji.
“He couldn’t use a different word?” one X user wondered. “Like ‘people are focused!’ Guy goes right to the hard on.”
This is the first time that Schumer has gotten tongue-tied with another sexual phrase when speaking of Trump.
Video footage caught Schumer accusing Trump of having “incited the erection” at the US Capitol, in remarks from the Senate floor shortly after the Jan. 6, 2021, riot.
Needless to say, social media users did not let Schumer forget about that.
“He hasn’t seen people this aroused since Trump incited an erection,” one social media user joked.
“He just can’t help himself,” Julia, a Trump supporter, wrote on X, also including a vomiting emoji.
“Calm down, Chuck,” she added in a separate post.
“Patriot Mom” on X tweeted directly at the senator to tell him, “Nobody wants to hear you say that word. Ever again.”
