And what he shared Thursday immediately went viral — and has critics up in arms.
Malik tweeted a picture of his half-brother’s alleged Kenyan birth certificate with a simple comment: “Surely. What’s this?”

The picture immediately went viral, earning over 12,000 re-tweets — and it had Barack supporters scrambling.
According to The Daily Mail, the picture Malik shared is a long debunked forgery. But hardcore critics remain unconvinced.
In December, for example, former Sheriff Joe Arpaio used his final press conference in office to present what he called proof that Obama was born outside of America.
And Dr. Jerome Corsi, author of the controversial best selling book,”Where’s The Birth Certificate?” still claims there are “nine points of forgery” that offer evidence the former president’s birth certificate was originally created from one belonging to Johanna Ah’nee.

Over the years, however, even the most outspoken critics — including Trump — have accepted that Obama’s birth certificate, released by his administration in 2011, was real.
No matter where one stands, there are two things that are certain.
One, that Malik’s tweet was a publicity stunt that worked spectacularly .
And two: No matter where you stand on the “birther” controversy, this is a debate that will not fade.
