Controversial newswoman Megyn Kelly made the switch over to NBC earlier this year, and the transition has been anything but smooth.
Multiple sources have reported a tense feud already brewing between Kelly and NBC’s biggest star, Matt Lauer – and it’s bad for morale at the morning show.
“An unconfirmed report says the Today anchor hates the former Fox News star,” according to Hollywood Take.
She is slated to take over the 9 a.m. time slot on Today in September, but Kelly’s already visited the 30 Rock studios to meet her new staff — and that alone has Lauer furious.
Insiders claim that the Kelly is wooing staffers at the morning show, and they are flocking to leave Lauer’s team and join hers.
“She knows morale is low, and all she has to do is act a little nicer than Matt” a Today insider told Celebrity Insider.
While Kelly’s rep denies the rumors, there is weight to the reported fight.
Lauer and Today anchor Savannah Guthrie were reportedly kept in the dark about Kelly’s hiring until the story went public, a slight from producers that left a bad taste in the mouths of the two veteran anchors.
Lauer has been Today’s golden boy for years, reportedly receiving one of the highest salaries of men in television.
Today and Good Morning America have been in a ratings battle for years, with producers hoping bringing Kelly on will give them the upper hand.
