CNN has some thinking to do.
After some of the latest Nielsen television numbers have released following Joe Biden’s inauguration, the network is no doubt worried about what the future in a post-Donald Trump world will look like.
So far, not so good.
The liberal network enjoyed tremendous numbers following the election fallout and the Capitol riots, while in the background Democrats celebrated the Biden victory (Trump’s loss).
But oh, how times have quickly changed.
Liberals have already gotten their fix of Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.
They’re bored, it seems — and CNN’s primetime numbers are in the toilet.
That’s looking at you Anderson Cooper, Chris Cuomo, and Don Lemon — personalities in the 8 p.m., 9 p.m., and 10 p.m. spot respectively.
According to the numbers, perhaps the most alarming evidence of the declined was how the network performed at the start of the month versus the end of the month. From Jan. 4-8 the highest-rated program averaged more than 5 million viewers, and from Jan. 25-29 that average number for the lowest-rated program plummeted to just a little more than 1.5 million viewers.
Yikes.
Statistics such as these are in line with what critics had predicted when Trump would eventually depart the White House and less often appear in the headlines. As much as CNN hated the former President — it seemed nearly every story they ran involved Trump to some degree.
Now that he’s gone — for now — there is a big void.
And according to the numbers, Biden won’t be filling that void anytime soon.
Sure, the Senate impeachment trial may give them a bump.
But ultimately, the next four years could be a ratings desert for CNN.
So much that perhaps they may even be hoping Trump returns to the White House.
