President Joe Biden has been caught cursing in “hot mic” moments ever since his vice presidency. “This is a big f**king deal,” Biden famously told Barack Obama during a signing ceremony for the 2010 Affordable Care Act.
However, Biden’s cursing goes much further than that, according to a shocking report from Axios.
On Monday, Axios reported on Biden’s tendency not only to curse at his aides, but also to scream at them.
Axios reported —
Behind closed doors, Biden has such a quick-trigger temper that some aides try to avoid meeting alone with him. Some take a colleague, almost as a shield against a solo blast…
The president’s admonitions include: “God dammit, how the f**k don’t you know this?!,” “Don’t f**king bullsh*t me!” and “Get the f**k out of here!” — according to current and former Biden aides who have witnessed and been on the receiving end of such outbursts…
Being yelled at by the president has become an internal initiation ceremony in this White House, aides say — if Biden doesn’t yell at you, it could be a sign he doesn’t respect you.
Biden has certainly yelled at people that he’s respected. For example, Biden yelled at COVID-19 czar Jeff Zients in 2021, aides told Axios. Then, Biden promoted Zients this year by making him chief of staff earlier this year.
Some aides told Axios that they wanted Biden to vent his rage publicly instead of privately. They want Biden to display his fury in order to assuage Americans’ concerns about his advanced age.
In other words, the staffers have acknowledged a method to Biden’s fury, but they’ve questioned the method.
Biden has reportedly been yelling at his aides for years.
Documentary filmmaker Chris Whipple addressed Biden’s fury earlier this year in his book The Fight of His Life: Inside Joe Biden’s White House.
Jen Psaki, former White House press secretary, told Whipple, “I said to [Biden] multiple times, ‘I’ll know we have a really good, trusting relationship when you yell at me the first time.'”
“There’s no question that the Biden temper is for real,” Whipple told Axios. “It may not be as volcanic as Bill Clinton’s, but it’s definitely there.”
Psaki became press secretary immediately after Biden’s inauguration. “Psaki wouldn’t have to wait long,” Whipple said in his book.
