Billionaire Reid Hoffman, who once tried to help pedophile Jeffrey Epstein rehab his image, has a new project.
Hoffman is now using his fortune to get former Vice President Joe Biden elected in November.
He reportedly made a million dollar donation to a pro-Biden dark money Super PAC “Unite the Country,” according to The Washington Free Beacon.
To his credit, Hoffman has apologized for his role in “helping to repair” Epstein’s reputation in 2008.
In a letter, Hoffman said he had little interaction with Epstein outside of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) fundraisers.
My few interactions with Jeffrey Epstein came at the request of Joi Ito, for the purposes of fundraising for the MIT Media Lab. Prior to these interactions, I was told by [Director Joi Ito] that Epstein had cleared the MIT vetting process, which was the basis for my participation. My last interaction with Epstein was in 2015. Still, by agreeing to participate in any fundraising activity where Epstein was present, I helped to repair his reputation and perpetuate injustice. For this, I am deeply regretful.
Thanks to Hoffman and other wealthy donors, the pro-Biden Super PAC has provided much-needed cash for Biden’s team as the Democratic primary heats up.
Biden had previously rejected the Super PAC’s money. His communications director said the former Vice President “does not welcome assistance from super PACs” when Unite the Country PAC was first formed.
The Super PAC shut down… temporarily.
When Biden struggled to meet his goals with grassroots fundraising, his campaign reversed its policy on “dark money” — and the Super PAC quickly reformed.
One of the latest campaign ads by Unite the Country was released earlier this month. A Washington Post fact-check gave the ad a “Four Pinocchios” rating, and said it was clearly edited to make it seem like President Donald Trump called the coronavirus a “hoax.”
