The left-wing mainstream media will stop at nothing to destroy President Donald Trump.
But their never-ending crusade could end up destroying someone else.

A stunning new report from the U.S. Senate says endless leaks to the media from within the U.S. government are flowing at an “alarming rate,” with so much classified information out there now that the very security of the nation itself is at risk… including the safety of ordinary Americans.
“The unauthorized disclosure of certain information can cost American lives and our laws protecting this information provide for harsh punishments when violated,” states the report from the Republicans of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.

These aren’t just occasional leaks from whistleblowers about explosive issues.
The report finds leaks are hitting the press SEVEN TIMES FASTER than they did under either President Barack Obama or President George W. Bush!
In other words, this isn’t an impartial media trying to play its traditional role of watchdog.

It’s exactly what President Trump has been saying all along: A witch hunt.
And it’s relentless.
“President Trump and his administration have faced apparent leaks on nearly a daily basis, potentially imperiling national security at a time of growing threats at home and abroad,” the report said.

The “nearly a daily basis” is no exaggeration.
The report finds 125 major news reports with leaked information published in the first 126 days of the Trump administration, including details of private conversations within with White House and even between the president and the leaders of other nations.
And that’s a major problem for the country no matter who’s in charge.

“The commander-in-chief needs to be able to effectively manage U.S. security, intelligence operations and foreign relations without worrying that his most private meetings, calls and deliberations will be outed for the entire world to see,” the report notes.
In one case, the Washington Post reported specific details of a conversation between Trump and Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull. In another, current and former officials leaked specific details on calls and messages exchanged by Trump advisors and Russian officials.
“These stories plainly could damage national security under the definition laid out in President Obama’s 2009 Executive Order,” the report notes.

That’s right. They didn’t used some made-up standard to calculate the potential harm of leaks.
They used the definition set by Obama himself in an executive order issued when he first took office… and by that standard, leaks with the potential to harm national security are being published in the media far more often than under either of the previous two administrations.
“(T)he cascade of leaks may be unprecedented and is causing real harm,” the report said.

Even Trump’s critics agree.
“These continue to be very, very damaging leaks, and I find them appalling, and they need to be tracked down,” Former CIA Director John Brennan told Congress in May.
The Senate report is calling on prosecutors to go after leakers when it has been determined that they’ve violated federal law, which has the media of course livid.

They don’t want to lose their sources, even when they’re hurting the nation and spreading false information with sensationalist headlines.
But as the Senate report notes, there has to be a balance.
“Nothing is more important to America’s national security than protecting its secrets,” the report states. “While the First Amendment must be respected and a free press is vital to an accountable democracy, the federal government’s foremost mission must be to keep Americans safe from harm.”
