Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colo., was reportedly escorted out of the “Beetlejuice” musical in Denver for laughing too loud and singing during the performance on Sunday, according to reports.
The Buell Theatre confirmed that two individuals were escorted out of the show after receiving three complaints about recording during the show, vaping, and being a disturbance to other guests. The theater said it issued a warning during intermission, and escorted the two out after five minutes into the second half of the show.
Boerbert later confirmed it was her that was escorted out.
“It’s true, I did thoroughly enjoy the AMAZING Beetlejuice at the Buell Theatre and I plead guilty to laughing and singing too loud,” she posted on X, formerly known as Twitter. “Everyone should go see it if you get the chance this week, and please let me know how it ends!”
The Republican congresswoman’s campaign manager, Drew Sexton told The Post that Boebert did use her cellphone during the performance, which is not permitted, but said she was unaware that photography was banned.
“I can confirm the stunning and salacious rumors: in her personal time, Congresswoman Lauren Boebert is indeed a supporter of the performing arts (gasp!) and, to the dismay of a select few, enthusiastically enjoyed a weekend performance of ‘Beetlejuice,’” Sexton told the publication.
An usher told the newspaper that Boebert and her guest were confrontational when approached.
“They told me they would not leave. I told them that they need to leave the theater and if they do not, they will be trespassing. The patrons said they would not leave. I told them I would (be) going to get Denver Police. They said go get them,” an usher told The Denver Post about the incident, which was captured on security camera.
While leaving, Boebert allegedly told the ushers “I am on the board,” and “I will be contacting the mayor” and asked, “Do you know who I am?”
