On Thursday, radio host Charlamagne Tha God was discussing popular culture and celebrity news, and he didn’t leave out politicians.
Charlamagne went viral for his remarks on the GOP’s presidential candidates. He encouraged the party to “clear the field” for South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley.
Tezlyn Figaro, a radio personality, told Charlamagne, “Nikki Haley did a good job, talking about policy and legislation… The entire debate wasn’t about Trump.”
Charlamagne went further. “GOP should clear the field, get rid of everybody, including Trump, and let Nikki Haley be the GOP candidate,” the radio host said on his show The Breakfast Club — one of the most popular radio shows in the entire country.
Charlamagne broadcasts from New York, but he originally hails from Haley’s former constituency, South Carolina.
In the past, the radio host has praised Haley for endorsing term limits for Congress and mental competency tests for politicians over the age of 75.
“Nikki is absolutely right,” Charlamagne reportedly said earlier this year. “I’ll stop her when she stops telling the truth. We need term limits. And, you know, if you are going to stay in, you definitely need mental competency tests over the age of whatever… Nancy Pelosi is 83, Donald Trump is 77, Biden is 80. It’s like, yeah, we need term limits.”
Haley reiterated her beliefs about term limits at Wednesday’s debate. Haley said of South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott, “He’s been there 12 years and he hasn’t done any of that.”
Charlamagne is not a Republican. He has frequently endorsed far-Left beliefs on political issues, but he’s also slammed Democrat politicians, including Biden.
Earlier this month, Charlemagne reportedly bashed Biden for referring to LL Cool J, a 55-year-old Black musician, as a “boy.”
“Joe Biden should not need a teleprompter to know there’s not two J’s in LL Cool J,” Charlamagne said at the time, according to the Daily Mail.
“He fully understands the word boy in the racial context around a white man referring to a black man, is boy. See, boy is absolutely a white racist word when used in a certain context. And I know that because I’m from South Carolina. When somebody uses the word boy to refer to an adult Black man and the speaker is white, that takes on a whole different point in context.”
Charlamagne hosts The Breakfast Club on weekday mornings until 10 o’clock. At one point, he was reportedly reaching 8 million listeners per month.
