At this very moment, anchors and journalists insider MSNBC are walking on egg shells — even primetime stars like Rachel Maddow.
President Donald Trump’s victories have loomed over the liberal news network in recent months.
Viewers have fled… and the network executives are demanding answers.
And after pushing a failed Russian conspiracy theory for two years, MSNBC may never recover. Inside the network, a major news shakeup has already begun.
Former Senior Vice President (SVP) of dayside programming, Janelle Rodriguez, was recently relieved of her duties. According to Mediaite, she will be transitioned to head the MSNBC streaming service, NBC News Now.
Taking Rodriguez’ place is Jonathan Wald, who will work alongside Executive Editor Dan Arnall, where they will both oversee the content for the morning and afternoon. Wald will manage the 9 A.M. to noon block, and Arnall will manage from noon until 4 P.M.
Insiders hint that this could be the start of monumental changes. And the higher ups in the studio will be scrutinizing the ratings now more than ever.
The dramatic overhaul reportedly came about due to NBC News Chief Andrew Lack’s dissatisfaction with the post-Mueller ratings disaster. May wrapped up a remarkably brutal month where the network was down 32 percent viewership for the year in the demographic 25-54.
There’s a popular phrase in Russian: nichevo, which is translated to “nothing” in English. And that’s exactly what MSNBC earned for its biased reporting on Russian collusion.
Nothing. The network reaped what it sowed. There was nothing there to begin with, so MSNBC got nothing in return.
The public lost total confidence in Rachel Maddow. Even liberals at The New York Times don’t want to appear on the dumpster fire of a network.
Now the head honchos at MSNBC are struggling to pick up the pieces in the wreckage.
And they’re not afraid to make big changes.
