Powerful! Grieving father slams Dem soft-on-crime over murder of daughter

The grieving father of 22-year-old Logan Federico didn’t hold back Tuesday as he ripped into Democrats soft-on-crime policies that he says allowed a known career criminal to roam the streets — and murder his daughter.

Testifying before a House Judiciary Committee hearing in Charlotte, Stephen Federico said that the man accused of murdering Logan — Alexander Dickey — should have been in prison long ago. Instead, due to weak Democratic leadership and liberal justice reforms, Dickey was constantly released from police custody despite a rap sheet of 39 arrests and 25 felonies across multiple states.

“She was just trying to live her life,” Federico said in a powerful statement. “You need to fight for the rest of our children… stop protecting the people that keep taking them from us.”

Logan was visiting friends at the University of South Carolina earlier this year when Dickey allegedly broke into their off campus home. According to police and court records, Dickey forced Logan from bed at gunpoint and fatally shot her in the chest. He then went on a crime spree, robbing another person and stealing a car before being captured in Georgia.

Dickey had a long history of violent crime. Federico slammed the system for protecting criminals over victims — and said liberal reforms, soft judges, and weak prosecutors made it possible.

“He should’ve been behind bars,” he said. “But they let him out again and again. My daughter is gone because nobody in the system had the guts to say: enough.”

Republicans on the committee agreed.

“This is the cost of soft-on-crime politics,” said state Rep. Mark Harris, R-N.C. “It’s all too common for a criminal to be let off easy by a judge, only to have him turn around and commit an even worse crime. We have to start choosing victims over repeat offenders.”

The hearing also heard testimony from Mia Alderman, whose 18-year-old granddaughter was murdered in 2020. She said the justice system ignored bond violations and allowed the accused killer to delay the trial for years. “Justice delayed is justice denied,” Alderman said.

In the wake of Logan’s murder, Federico has launched a movement to demand accountability from Democratic-backed prosecutors, judges, and politicians who enable violent offenders through reckless policies.

“This is a fight now,” he said. “I will not stop. If they’re not going to protect our kids, then we’ll make damn sure voters know who’s responsible.”

Logan’s killer never should have been on the street — and now, Stephen Federico says, Democrats will have to answer for why he was.
