House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is going to lose her job.
And it won’t be long now, insiders predict.
According to a survey of senior aides of congresspeople in the House of Representatives, almost three-quarters believe Republicans are going to win back control of Congress in the 2022 election.
That would mean Pelosi would lose her speaker position.
Considering Pelosi’s advanced age, that would be the end of her career as the head of the Democratic Party.
It is not all doom-and-gloom for Democrats. Almost the same amount of insiders say the Democrats will retain control of the Senate, despite losing the House.
According to a survey of senior House aides by Punchbowl News —
73% of respondents said that Republicans will control the House. This is down five percentage points from our last survey.
75% of respondents say that Democrats will keep control of the Senate — up five percentage points since last month.
58% of respondents say enhanced unemployment benefits are hurting the labor markets. Just 24% say they are helping.
The party in control of the White House traditionally performs poorly in midterm elections.
Dissatisfied voters — especially older voters, who tend to vote conservative — show up in greater numbers for non-presidential elections.
That’s bad news for Pelosi and her allies… and senior insiders on Capitol Hill know it.
