Want to ruin a liberal’s day?
Break the news that President Donald Trump is OFFICIALLY on pace to win reelection next year!
When they stammer about approval ratings, tell them none of that matters… and not just in your opinion.
That’s straight from The Washington Post!
“The thing is, the president doesn’t need 50 [percent] to win,” columnist Henry Olsen told The Hill. “Opposition to him is so concentrated in large blue states if he’s at 47 [percent] on Election Day, he’s at over 50 percent in every swing state, including Arizona and Michigan, and he’s going to win reelection.”
This is pretty much how the Electoral College was designed to operate: Stopping massive populations in a few big states – like the Trump-hating bastions of New York and California – from swinging entire elections.
And right now, as in 2016, it appears to be working exactly as intended.
“If he’s at 47 percent in the RealClearPolitics average, he’s going to win reelection because he’ll be at over 50 in the Electoral College,” Olsen said. “He might lose the popular vote by a point or two, but he’ll win the Electoral College.”
So far, the RealClear Politics average isn’t quit there yet.
But it’s getting there.
And in a move that will no doubt horrify liberals, the two most recent polls have Trump AT and even ABOVE that magic number!
The latest approval poll from Rasmussen Reports – one of the most accurate pollsters of the 2016 election – gives Trump a 50 percent approval rating, versus 48 percent who disapprove.
That’s actually down slightly from the previous Rasmussen poll, which had him all the way up to 52 percent!
And last week’s poll from The Hill had him right at 47 percent approval.
That one gave him higher disapproval rating at 53 percent.
But as Olsen pointed out, much of that opposition is concentrated in the nation’s heavily liberal states.
And there’s even more alarming news for the left.
The first 2020 polls to include ex-Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz as an independent running against both Trump and a Democratic candidate are out.
And in nearly EVERY case… Trump is winning!
The Øptimus poll has Trump up in the three way race against Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., by 4 points. He’s also up by the same amount against Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass.
He does even better against former Rep. Beto O’Rourke, D-Tex., where he’s up by 9 in the three-way race.
The only one beating Trump in that poll? Former Vice President Joe Biden.
That’s not an outlier.
A poll earlier this month from Emerson College had Trump up against everyone in two-way races except Biden, who had a paper-thin 1-point edge.
Biden, of course, has his own issues starting with age. He turns 78 weeks after the 2020 election, which is older than President Ronald Reagan was when he left office.
And he has his own embarrassing personal history that will no doubt be an issue should he run.
In other words, don’t bet on Biden.
And that means the Trump Train could keep rolling through 2020.
White House counselor Kellyanne Conway — one of the architects of Trump’s stunning 2016 victory – is also convinced her boss is going to win reelection.
And she’s warning liberals and the media it’s high time to settle down and accept it.
Speaking out after a report that her family had been accosted in a restaurant last year with her teenage daughter looking on, Conway decried the poisonous atmosphere created by the left.
Then, she made her bold 2020 prediction.
“What’s necessary is for people to understand – in front of everybody but especially in front of 13- and 14-year-old girls – that you need to control your temper, control yourself,” she told CNN.
“You need to get over the damn 2016 election and do that because chances are – the big chances and I believe – that this man will be re-elected.”
