The good news is a new poll shows Joe Biden the biggest problem he’s going to face over the next two years. The bad news (for him) is there’s nothing he can do about it.
A majority of Americans say Joe Biden is not “mentally fit to be President of the United States” … and almost two out of every three Americans say he’s already too old to be in charge.

The results come from a new Harvard-Harris/CAPS poll released this week—and they’ve got blue-state voters seeing red.
The survey finds that 52 percent of Americans “have doubts about his fitness for office,” but then the news gets even worse. A total of 63 percent of Americans agree that Biden’s performance in office is already “showing he is too old to be President.”
Biden’s “not just crossing some sort of vague forced-retirement boundary in people’s mind,” writes Ed Morrissey at HotAir.com. Based on his actions, Morrissey says, they think he’s already taken the cognitive highway to the danger zone.
Even Stacey Abrams laughed when a comedian on the “85 South Show” said Biden “forgot” his plan to save America, because “his Alzheimer’s (is) kickin’ in.”

The fact that women think Biden isn’t up to the job is “particularly troublesome for Democrats,” Morrissey adds.
But then, neither do independents. 72 percent of them believe Biden’s already showing he’s living a world of his own.
Most Hispanics (57 percent) agree, as do Blacks (50 percent), voters under 35 (62 percent), and suburban voters (64 percent).
That’s the core of the Democratic Party, and they think Biden’s toast.

There’s a deeper problem for Biden and his party: There’s no clear way to make the voters think the president has his act together again.
“This is the sort of problem from which a president cannot recover,” writes National Review’s Charles C.W. Cooke. “Once people think you’re old and mentally unfit, you’re toast.”
It’s not just Republicans; the most prestigious outlets—the ones frequented by our government’s movers and shakers—are also sounding an alarm.
“If he runs for a second term and wins, President Biden will be 82 on Inauguration Day and 86 at the end of his second term,” The Week, a highbrow establishment journal, pointed out in an article. “At that age, there’s a much greater risk of senility and physical decline – as Biden is already demonstrating.”
At the same time, New York Magazine reports that deep “ambivalence about Biden’s age and political standing is fueling skepticism” among Democratic donors, who “have quietly started to poke around for alternatives in 2024.”
What would make voters and donors, Republicans and Democrats alike, think Joe Biden lacks the mental faculties to be president? Let’s go to the tape.

Biden recently bragged that he would “accommodate” Russian oligarchs—a word which means that he would to help them and make them feel at home. Then, after the president struggled for about 30 seconds to say the word “kleptocracy,” he tried to turn it into a joke by saying said he would “clip the guys who are the kleptocracies” and laughing strangely.
Nobody laughed with him.

A few days later, Biden remembered how, as a 29-year-old senator, he used to “fight like hell” with “real segregationists,” but “at least we’d end up eating lunch together. Things have changed. We gotta bring it back.” President Golden Tongue didn’t make it clear whether he wanted to bring back segregation ort he days when senators got along despite their differences.
Nobody asked him; they were too busy wincing in the background.

Those gaffes came after the president of the United States—the commander-in-chief of the U.S. armed forces and the leader of the free world—told reporters that he thinks he is a U.S. senator.
“There have not been many senators from Delaware. It’s a small state. Matter of fact, there’s never been one,” Biden said. Evidently, he meant to say there’s never been a president from Delaware, but the offices got turned around in his brain before they twisted their way off his tongue.

We were able to decipher what the president meant only because he made the exact same mistake two years ago while running for president. “My name is Joe Biden. I’m a Democratic candidate for the United States Senate,” he told primary voters in South Carolina in 2020. “If you don’t like me, you can vote for the other Biden.”
So, whatever condition Biden’s dealing with, he’s been suffering from it a long time. The gaffes keep coming.

All these examples of Biden’s mental flights have taken place within the last 30 days—and we didn’t include them all (like his telling a phony story about an Amtrack conductor grabbing his face and calling him “Joey baby”—which even CNN says is a total fabrication—for reportedly the seventh time this month).
“Biden has been of script [off script] a whole lot lately,” CNN’s Chris Cillizza said on Tuesday.

These aren’t his only verbal stumbles, and this poll isn’t Biden’s only problem.
Earlier in the month, an NBC News poll found that 75 percent of U.S. citizens think America is on the wrong track. “That wrong-track number has been 70-plus for SEVEN months, which —in the past — has signaled big losses for the governing party,” said NBC’s liberal “Meet the Press” on Twitter.
A different poll, a Gallup poll, taken this month found that only 16 percent of Americans are satisfied with the direction of the country—and we’re tempted to think they’re all Biden relatives or Democratic Party consultants.
A whopping 83 percent of Americans are dissatisfied with the country… and thus with the president.
Americans are starting to worry that there’s nothing he can, or will, do about that, either.
