The FBI just made one of their boldest statements yet: Americans don’t care about twice failed Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton’s email scandal.
They’re ignoring the fact that it was one of the biggest and most controversial stories of 2016, and claiming that not enough Americans care for them to release further information.
New York City Attorney Ty Clevenger filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request of March of 2016 “for documents from the FBI and Justice Department, including correspondence exchanged with Congress and the Clinton email investigation,” according to Fox News.
A letter obtained by Fox reveals their reasoning for the denial, and it’s unbelievable.
The FBI’s Records Management Division allegedly told Clevenger that they, “determined you have not sufficiently demonstrated that the public’s interest in disclosure outweighs personal privacy interests of the subject. Therefore, records regarding your subject are withheld pursuant to FOIA exemptions.”
While the investigation into her server is still considered a major factor in the 2016 presidential election, somehow the FBI thinks America doesn’t care.
Clevenger is on the “lock her up” bandwagon, and is attempting to publicize documents that could prove Clinton committed perjury in her testimony to Capitol Hill, according to the Washington Times.
To prove public interest, Clevenger sent documentation of requests from members of Congress for a perjury investigation.
Clevenger than made a bold statement about the entire FBI saying, “I’m just stunned. This is exactly what I would have expected had Mrs. Clinton won the election, but she didn’t. It looks like the Obama administration is still running the FBI.”
He continued, “How can a story receive national news coverage and not be a matter of public interest? if this is the new standard, then there’s no such thing as a public interest exemption,” he told the Washington Times.
