28-year-old Zelig Williams, former Broadway dancer from the hit musical “Hamilton,” has disappeared under what some say are mysterious circumstances.
Now, police in South Carolina are looking for answers and clues to his whereabouts.
According to Columbia, SC affiliate WACH Fox 57 News, Williams’ family last had contact with him Oct. 3, and officials said he requires prescription medications. He was reported as missing Friday.
Per the Fox 57 report, the Black and Missing Foundation has shared an image of Williams on their website, along with information pertaining to the active missing persons search being led by the Richland County Sheriff’s Department (RCSD).
They noted Williams has “a birthmark on his throat and skin pigmentation on his legs and one of his hands.”
Area authorities reported that Williams was last at his residence Oct. 3 and was last seen driving in the Congaree National Park area. His vehicle has since been discovered abandoned, but there was no sign of Williams.
He was dressed in black shorts, brown slides and a white t-shirt at the time of his disappearance, according to the organization’s official website.
The events prior to Williams’ disappearance are mysterious, according to family members.
His aunt Christine McLaughlin Barber said an SOS alert was sent from his phone within ten minutes of his departure, the police told Fox 57.
She added that they obtained the ping via a friend from New York, and noted that the alert suggested a crash, according to the report.
There has been no evidence of a crash reported, and local news outlet WIS 10 reported that Sheriff Leon Lott said police suspect it’s possible that foul play is involved.
Williams starred in Broadway’s “MJ Musical,” as well as “Hamilton.”
