Is everything alright with Kentucky Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell?
McConnell insists he’s in good health — but a set of viral pictures circulating social media seem to tell a different story.

In the photos, McConnell’s hands are both covered in deep bruises with numerous bandaids and strange marks on them. The area around his upper lip also seemed to be bruised and swollen.
In an appearance Thursday, McConnell first ducked questions on his health. Then he outright denied anything was wrong.
“But I’m serious, is there anything going on we should know about?’ a reporter asked McConnell.
“Of course not,” he replied. He also said there were “no concerns” regarding his health.
The 78-year-old Kentucky senator has had a few health scares throughout his tenure in the U.S. Senate. In 2003, McConnell had triple heart bypass surgery. And in 2019, a fall in his home fractured his shoulder.
McConnell has spent weeks rushing to confirm Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett over protests by Democrats. He’s also running for re-election against Democratic candidate Amy McGrath.
