Attorney General Pam Bondi issued a stern warning to Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-T.X., on Sunday following the congresswoman’s calls for “action” against Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who serves as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) in President Donald Trump’s administration.
“She is an elected public official, so she needs to tread very carefully because nothing will happen to Elon Musk, and we are going to fight to protect all the Tesla owners throughout this country,” Bondi said during an appearance on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures.”
Bondi’s warning came after Crockett, who sits on the House committee overseeing DOGE, spoke at a virtual rally for the “Tesla Takedown movement,” a so-called “peaceful protest platform” organizing demonstrations at Tesla locations across the country on March 29.
Tesla vehicles and charging stations have been repeatedly attacked throughout the country by leftists in retaliation over DOGE’s federal austerity measures.
“On March 29, it’s my birthday, and all I want to see happen on my birthday is for Elon to be taken down,” Crockett said. “I have learned, as I serve on the DOGE Oversight committee, that there is only one language that the people that are in charge understand right now, and that language is money.”
The Texas congresswoman, currently serving her second term, has since claimed that her comments were intended to be “nonviolent.”
“We know that we are peaceful, loving people, and this is not about violence,” Crockett later said. She described her calls to action as being about figuratively “fighting” for democracy.
Republicans have accused Crockett of inciting violence with her rhetoric.
Bondi’s warnings follow her recent announcement that the Department of Justice is charging three people for attacks on Teslas and EV charging stations. The Attorney General referred to these acts as terrorism, and said the suspects could face up to 20 years in prison.
“People need to know that the three people in custody right now… will receive severe and swift consequences,” Bondi said. “We are not coming off these charges. We are looking at everything, especially if this is a concerted effort. This is domestic terrorism.”
As head of DOGE, Musk has been tasked with cutting federal spending and reducing bureaucracy, efforts that have drawn significant criticism from Democrats.
The Tesla Takedown movement is organizing what they call a “Global Day of Action” with 500 demonstrations at Tesla locations planned for March 29.
