President Donald Trump has only been in office a few months, and the Democratic Party is already prepping their 2020 candidate.
Congresswoman and leader of the “resist” Trump movement, Maxine Waters will headline a New Hampshire Democratic event, sparking speculation that she is considering a presidential run.
Should Waters run, she would need to start campaigning as early as now due to her minimal individual contributions, and a large debt owed to her daughter.
The Washington Free Beacon reported she has received just above $20,000 in individual contributions to her campaign, despite her outspoken anti-Trump rhetoric.
She is also reportedly in debt to her daughter for $100,000 according to campaign filings.
To make up for the pathetic turnout in individual contributions, Waters campaign is taking a page out of failed Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton’s campaign playbook: SuperPAC’s.
She is reportedly pulling in six figures from political action committees, receiving a whopping $99,500 in the second quarter, which ran from April 1 to June 30.
While Waters clearly has presidential aspirations, she doesn’t have the greatest reputation amongst Americans.
She has repeatedly called for Trump’s impeachment, even drawing back lash from House Minority leader Nancy Pelosi.
Pelosi came out in March criticizing Democrats for pushing impeachment without any evidence to back the claim.
With Trump’s campaign funds already flowing in, Waters has a lot of ground to make up to defeat him in 2020.
