Oscar-winning Hollywood legend Sylvester Stallone has just come forward and fully endorsed the “Make America Great Again” movement – and he’s already thinking about the future of the Republican Party.
Stallone came forward this with a strong endorsement of Vice President JD Vance as the natural successor to President Donald Trump’s MAGA movement during the Kennedy Center Honors weekend.
The actor most famous for “Rocky” declared Vance, a former Marine and bestselling author, as someone who has what it takes to carry forward the America First agenda.
Asked whether Vance could successfully lead the MAGA movement after Trump’s term ends, Stallone responded, “Oh, without a doubt.”
The 78-year-old actor made the comments while attending a reception during the 2025 Kennedy Center Honors, where Trump presented him and four other honorees with medals in the Oval Office on December 6. Stallone was recognized alongside country music superstar George Strait, rock band Kiss, disco legend Gloria Gaynor, and Tony Award-winning actor Michael Crawford.
“He’s an elegant man,” Stallone said of Vance.
“There’s something about when you look at a man eye to eye,” Stallone explained, and said Vance was “authentic” rather than “posturing for a different idea.”

The endorsement comes as Vance has emerged as the clear frontrunner for the 2028 Republican presidential nomination, considering Trump will be ineligible to run for a third term.
A recent New Hampshire poll showed the vice president commanding 57 percent support among likely Republican primary voters.
Trump himself has repeatedly floated Vance as his worthy successor. During a White House cabinet meeting on December 2, Trump hinted that his 2028 Republican ticket could include two members of his current administration, specifically mentioning Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Trump called them “unstoppable” and said he wanted their work to be “carried forward.”
That echoed Trump’s October remarks when he praised a potential Vance-Rubio 2028 ticket.
Stallone has maintained a close relationship with Trump and was appointed earlier this year as one of three Special Envoys tasked with restoring “the Golden Age of Hollywood.” He serves alongside Jon Voight and Mel Gibson in an effort to revitalize the American entertainment industry, which had become ultra “woke” under former President Joe Biden.
At the Kennedy Center announcement ceremony in August, Stallone suggested the opening scene of Rocky could be updated to feature Trump instead of the boxer.
“At that moment, he was a chosen person and that’s how I began the journey — something was gonna happen, this man was gonna go through a metamorphosis and change lives, just like President Trump,” Stallone said.
Vance has downplayed speculation about his 2028 ambitions, and said he would discuss a potential presidential run with Trump only after the 2026 midterm elections.
“I try to put it out of my head and remind myself the American people elected me to do a job right now,” Vance told Fox News’ Sean Hannity.
The 2026 midterms will be critical for Vance’s future prospects. Republicans currently hold a narrow majority in the House and a 53-47 majority in the Senate. All 435 House seats and 35 Senate seats will be up for grabs in November 2026.
