Ocasio-Cortez snaps at this Christmas picture

Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colo., took an interesting Christmas photo — and Rep. Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., had something to say about it.

In the photo, Boebert is standing in front of her Christmas tree with her four children, each of whom is holding a rifle and smiling.

When Ocasio-Cortez stumbled upon Boebert’s photo she was immediately up in arms. She accused Boebert of using a religious holiday for publicity. She also described Boebert as hypocritical.

Ocasio-Cortez tweeted, “Tell me again where Christ said ‘use the commemoration of my birth to flex violent weapons for personal political gain’? lol @ all the years Republicans spent on cultural hysteria of society ‘erasing Christmas and it’s meaning’ when they’re doing that fine all on their own.”

She continued, “When you pose in front of a Christmas Tree and can name all those guns but can’t name the gifts of the Wise Men.”

Boebert has yet to respond publicly.

She has feuded with Ocasio-Cortez before. During her 2020 campaign, she positioned herself as the Republicans’ alternative to Ocasio-Cortez.

Boebert, like Ocasio-Cortez, ran against an establishment incumbent from her own party. Both Boebert and Ocasio-Cortez came to politics after stints in the activist community. Boebert worked as a gun-rights activist.

Boebert has also singled out Ocasio-Cortez for criticism.

One Colorado newscaster asked Boebert, “Are you running against her, or are you running against [primary challenger Rep.] Scott Tipton?… Your campaign announcement didn’t mention Congressman Tipton by name. It did spend quite a bit of time and space attacking Democratic Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York.”

“I’m absolutely running against her,” Boebert responded at the time. “There is a battle for the heart and soul of our country right now, and I am ready to be the one who steps up for conservative values and takes on AOC.”
