Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., is popular among liberal voters and socialists for her quick wit and persistent social media presence.
But she didn’t see this coming.
Ocasio-Cortez went after Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and his fellow Texas Republicans during a trip to the Lone Star state meant to drum up support (and cash) for her preferred far-left candidates.
While in Austin, she promised to turn Texas into a Democrat-controlled state — and said it was “inevitable.”
‘Texas turning blue. Inevitable. Inevitable! It will happen,” Ocasio-Cortez said Sunday at a gathering of Democratic socialists. “The only question is when, Texas. The only question is when.”
“The work that you put in today. The work that you put in tomorrow. The work you put in on Monday. When you go one more door when you’re tired. When you make one more call when you feel exhausted. You’re bringing that day,” she said, referring to the day when Texas turns blue.
“One day sooner. One day faster. This state will turn blue. It’s going to happen.”
She later posted a video of herself dancing at the event with the strange caption, “Ted Cruz could never.”
In the video, workers and what is presumably security are seen in masks, but not Ocasio-Cortez who had just traveled from out-of-state.
That got the attention of Cruz, also known for his quick wit — and he had a comeback ready for Ocasio-Cortez.
“True that, @AOC,” he replied.
“Only Dems can be such shameless mask hypocrites,” Cruz said. “Dance while you make the ‘little people’ mask up.”
Rules for thee, but not for me.
True that. @aoc
Only Dems can be such shameless mask hypocrites.
