Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’ appeal to her supporters is that she is just like each and every one of them. She’s relatable. She’s human.
And now The New York Post has found that like most Americans, she doesn’t like to paying her taxes either.
In fact, The Post reported that the freshman congresswoman has failed to pay a nearly $2,000 tax lien going on seven years.
The tax lien is for a business operation which Ocasio-Cortez could never quite launch successfully, called Brook Avenue Press, a publishing house for children’s literature.
She wants everyone else to pay more taxes… but doesn’t pay her own?
Ocasio-Cortez, the one demanding that the rich be stripped of their money through taxation, hasn’t paid $1,877.56 in taxes she owes from years ago. It seems that instead of doling out advice on taxes, she could use some advice herself.
According to The Post, Ocasio-Cortez’ failed venture was legally dissolved by the State of New York in October of 2016. Shortly after, the dismantled company received a warrant over their unpaid taxes. More than six years since it’s launch — and two years since it was dissolved — the outstanding tax balance is still unpaid.
Ocasio Cortez has made her political career centered around pointing out privileges and injustices. For years, she’s pandered to her base with anecdotes of victimhood.
And while she’s been demanding more government taxes for some, she’s been avoiding her own huge tax bill.
To let a tax lien go, whatever the reason may be, is just an ugly precedent to set.
Unfortunately for the voters — those who suffer the real impact of her poor leadership — America will continue to be fed far-left messaging from the mainstream media while their Democratic darling gets away with hypocrisy after hypocrisy in the background.
