Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi made a statement last week highlighting the differences between President Donald Trump and former President Barack Obama — and Obama won’t be happy about it.
It’s an attack on the Obama administrat — and Trump supporters say it proves the current president is the better commander in chief.
When asked if Trump’s approach to defeating radical Islamic terror and ISIS is different than Obama’s, al-Abadi slammed the previous administration saying, “President Obama didn’t want to get involved in the first place. He just wanted to just forget Iraq.”
He cheered Trump, saying, “I think this administration wants to be more engaged in fighting terrorism,” he continued, “I think they’re prepared to do more to fight terrorism.”
Al-Abadi met with Trump last week to discuss Islamic terrorism and American policies in the Middle East, and clearly left encouraged and confident in the American military actions to defeat ISIS.
Trump made the collapse of ISIS a staple in his presidential campaign, and has kept that promise, doing everything he can to defeat them.
He ordered Secretary of Defense James Mattis to develop a plan to “totally obliterate” ISIS, and sent additional troops to Iraq and Syria to help in the fight.
The Iraqi leader also lent support to Trump’s executive order banning immigration from certain countries, listing Syria, Iraq, Egypt and Libya as areas where, “there are many terrorist activities.”
