Former President Barack Obama has a prediction for the Democratic party – and it’s concerning him.
“One of the things I do worry about sometimes among progressives in the United States —maybe it’s true here as well — is a certain kind of rigidity where we say, ‘Uh, I’m sorry, this is how it’s going to be,” he said at a town hall in Berlin, according to The Hill.
It was no secret that he was talking about Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y. and her band of radical socialists. The far-left Democrats have been rapidly disrupting their own party. Ocasio-Cortez has publicly threatened to attack moderate and centrist leaning Democrats in the House, a move that would all but alienate swing voters with extreme policies.

The fact that Obama would say this is major: The left-leaning former president knows that event the Democrats of today have gone way too far. And he’s predicting that the infighting has huge potential to derail the entire 2020 campaign strategy.
“…and then we start sometimes creating what’s called a ‘circular firing squad,’ where you start shooting at your allies because one of them has strayed from purity on the issues. And when that happens, typically the overall effort and movement weakens,” he said.
One wouldn’t need to turn the calendar back that far to get to 1972 when former President Richard Nixon crushed Democratic candidate George McGovern in the general election. And that result sent the Democratic party into two decades of steady losses (with the exception of Jimmy Carter).
So what Obama is really saying is that the Democrats’ livelihood is on the line here.
After all, without the Russian “witch hunt” the Democrats seem lost, weaponless, and lack a unified message.

Obama at least understands what it’s like to reach the national stage. Just like Ocasio-Cortez, he went from local citizen to a major political player in a very short amount of time.
“So I think whether you are speaking as a citizen or as a political leader or as an organizer … you have to recognize that the way we structure democracy requires you to take into account people who don’t agree with you and that by definition means you’re not going to get 100 percent of what you want,” he added.
But the Bronx, New York congresswoman has proven to be more concern with an anti-compromise agenda. She spends her time basking in the glow of social media fans, instead of actually leading. She’s turned the House into Alexandria’s Playpen — and it’s causing real headaches in D.C.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi herself is unable to control her own party.
Establishment Democrats – the ones who have been there and done that – are trying to reign her and her political allies into the fold.

But she’s unwilling to listen to even her own leadership.
And when the luster of her social media presence wears off — which it will — she may find herself outside of the Congressional doors looking in.
