Obama hides while Kabul burns (but we found him!)

It’s no secret of the ongoing catastrophe in Afghanistan is a huge embarrassment to the United States. After 20 years, Taliban forces have overthrown the American-backed government in Kabul in just days.

But former President Barack Obama doesn’t want to hear about it.

He turned off his comments section on the social media app, Instagram, because followers begged the former president to speak on behalf of the deadly siege and evacuation of Afghanistan’s capital city.

It seems that Obama, who failed to withdraw from the country despite 8 years of promises, couldn’t be bothered to hear about it.

Fox News also notes that Obama has yet to issue a public statement.

Amid his silence, Obama’s comments section on Instagram quickly filled with pleas to speak out about the disaster. So far, he’s followed along with his pal Biden in keeping silent on the issue.

It has prompted critics and pundits to question when the 44th president will address what is rapidly becoming a once-in-a-generation mess.

Even the Biden administration’s press secretary, Jen Psaki, is reportedly on vacation in spite of the major instability in the Middle East.

Yes, vacation…

Newsmax reporter Emerald Robinson observed that the trip is suspicious at the very least.

“If you know that there’s two factions inside the White House, then you know why it’s gone silent,” she wrote. “There’s Team Biden (Klain/Psaki) & there’s Team Harris/Obama. Both teams know: the 1st person to take the podium to talk about Kabul gets the blame.”

“So they all went on vacation.”

Social media has been burning with hot takes such as these about which president is to blame for the disaster — and Obama has not been spared.

Fox caught a few of the responses to Obama’s account, including one user who stressed the danger of silence during a crisis:

“The blood of the #Afghan people is on the hands of those who have remained silent in the face of oppression and have made friends with the Taliban. History will not forget your crime.”

Even Obama’s one-time Secretary of Defense Leon Pannetta says that it’s time for Biden to fess up to his major errors.

Former Obama Admin Defense Secretary Leon Panetta:

“I strongly recommend to President Biden that he take responsibility, admit the mistakes that were made."pic.twitter.com/PqTPzgFCIX

With Biden cutting his vacation short to return this afternoon with a press conference, it then invites the question from Obama:

What do you have to say for yourself?
