New York City Democratic Mayor Eric Adams could be the next chip to fall in the fallout of president-elect Donald Trump’s landslide victory of Kamala Harris.
This after opening suggesting in a pair of Friday interview that he’s ready to switch to the Republican Party.
Adams, who was a member of the GOP from 1995 through 2002, and was asked during an appearance on local NYC affiliate NY1 whether he would return to the party.
He didn’t exactly answer the question, but he sure didn’t put his support towards the Democratic Party.

“I’m a part of the American party,” he said in response. “I love this country.”
“No matter what party I’m on or vote on, I’m going to push for American values,” he said, arguing that officials need to move beyond parties altogether and work in concert to solve voters’ problems.
Coincidently, since Trump’s victory, Adams has spoken positively about many in Trump’s proposed cabinet, including Elon Musk, who Trump has tasked with making government more efficient.
Adams is also set to sit down with Tom Homan, the incoming border czar, next week to talk about plans to deport undocumented immigrants which have plagued New York City.
Adams has said he would support any federal plan that focuses on those undocumented immigrants who have committed serious crimes.
A stark contrast from the mayors of Denver and Los Angeles have openly said they will vow to not abide by any federal plans to deport undocumented immigrants.
Local NY Democrats have become upset with Adams cozying up to Trump because of the power the Trump could have w over the five-count criminal case Adams faces in federal court.
Adams was indicted on corruption charges on Sept. 26, centering on alleged favors provided for Turkish figures in exchange for money and gifts. He has pleaded not guilty.
Many are speculating that Adams is playing friends with Trump in a effort to score a potential presidential pardon.
According to POLITICO, Trump has already settled on a nominee to replace the U.S. Attorney prosecuting Adams.
When asked Friday if he would run for reelection next year as a Democrat, Adams said:
“That is what I’m proposing to do,” he said. “I’ve been a Democrat for many years and I’m going to run for my reelection as a Democrat.”
And he had a final message for any naysayers.
“Those who don’t like it, they will cancel me,” he said. “I say: Cancel me. I’m for America.”
