New York City officials have increased security around The Trump Tower in Manhattan in light of this weekend’s terrorist attack in New Orleans and an explosion outside of a Trump property in Las Vegas.

Mayor Eric Adams confirmed the move in the following statement in a post on X today:

“While there are no immediate threats to our city at this time, out of an abundance of caution, we have heightened security and have increased NYPD presence at relevant locations, including at Trump Tower and in Times Square,” Adams said in the post.

After the attacks in New Orleans and Las Vegas, @NYPDPC and I have been in constant communication. While there are no immediate threats to our city at this time, out of an abundance of caution, we have heightened security and have increased NYPD presence at relevant locations,…

Police say that Army veteran Shamsud-Din Jabbar drove a Ford F-150 electric pickup into a crowded French Quarter street early on New Year’s Day, killing 15 and injuring dozens.

Law enforcement officials have called it a terrorist attack.

In Las Vegas, multiple reports say that former Green Beret Matthew Livelsberger of Colorado Springs, Colorado, drove a Tesla Cybertruck to a hotel owned by President-elect Donald Trump and detonated contents inside the vehicle, causing the explosion.

The driver of the Cybertruck was killed, though police have not officially identified him as Livelsberger. Law enforcement is treating the explosion as an act of terror after discovering the vehicle was loaded with “fireworks-style mortars.”

Elon Musk, who owns Tesla, has been a key member of Trump’s transition and will lead the Department of Government Efficiency with Vivek Ramaswamy.

This is an ongoing story. Check back for further updates.
