A new development has emerged in the saga of Fox News host Tucker Carlson and the National Security Administration.
And it Carlson’s own program, Tucker Carlson Tonight, that made the surprising reveal.
Contributor Mark Steyn announced that the NSA — under the Biden Administration — is now confirming reports that Tucker Carlson’s name was allegedly “unmasked” during a gathering among intelligence officials.
The claim was first published by The Record.
As for the charge itself, it’s simple, really.
The NSA is confirming reports that Carlson’s identity was revealed behind closed doors.
And yes, according to experts, the practice of unmasking in the intelligence community is foul play.
“By law, the identities of American citizens are concealed when they’re caught up during foreign intelligence gathering,” Steyn said. “They can only be unmasked in extraordinary circumstances.”
“For the NSA to unmask Tucker Carlson or any journalist attempting to secure a newsworthy interview is entirely unacceptable and raises serious questions about their activities as well as their original denial, which was wildly misleading,” a Fox News statement read.
The bombshell report of course comes on the heels of the saga, which began when Carlson discovered he was being spied on by the NSA after attempting to score an interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
But there are some experts who believe the bombshell report only raises more questions instead of answers.
Civil Rights Attorney Harmeet Dhillon, who appeared on the same Fox segment, says she isn’t buying it.
She noted that what the NSA is supposedly confirming, that Carlson’s name was leaked by “third parties talking with one another about Tucker Carlson,” seems a bit off…
In her estimation, it isn’t consistent with Carlson’s account of what happened. It’s worth noting that Carlson claimed that he was approached by a federal government employee, who informed the Fox News host that he was being surveilled.
