NFL’s Travis Kelce announces a new TV hosting gig

Travis Kelce, the tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, has been keeping himself busy during the NFL off-season. Fresh off his Super Bowl LVIII victory, Kelce is set to host a brand new game show called “Are You Smarter than a Celebrity?” on Prime Video, according to a Tuesday announcement from a video streamer.

The show has already wrapped up filming for its 20-episode season.

The concept of the show is a fun twist on the popular series “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?”, which first aired on Fox in 2007 with host Jeff Foxworthy. The show also had a syndicated run and was later revived by Nickelodeon in 2019, hosted by John Cena.

In Kelce’s version, an adult contestant will face 11 questions based on elementary school curriculum. To help them answer these questions, the contestant can seek assistance from a classroom filled with various celebrities. The final question, taken from the 6th-grade curriculum, is worth a whopping $100,000. For this last question, the contestant is allowed to discuss the answer with only one celebrity.

Kelce, who is currently in a relationship with chart-dominating musician Taylor Swift, expressed his excitement about the project in a statement. He shared that he grew up watching game shows and is “excited to be following in the footsteps of so many TV icons.”

This isn’t Kelce’s first foray into television. Back in 2016, he starred in his own dating competition show on E! called “Catching Kelce.” More recently, he showcased his hosting skills by taking the reins of an episode of “Saturday Night Live” last year.

Still, fans can look forward to seeing the tight end in a whole new light.
