Since the New England Patriots history-making victory over the Atlanta Falcons, the mainstream media has been obsessing over the fact that some Patriots players won’t be in attendance during their visit to President Donald Trump’s White House.
But there’s one major thing they’re leaving out, and Patriots owner Robert Kraft has had enough.
In an appearance on the Today show with host Matt Lauer, Lauer asked Kraft if he thought his close relationship with Trump is taking a toll on his relationship with some of his more liberal players.
“Your relationship with Donald Trump, I should mention, goes back a while.” Has your relationship with Donald Trump in any way strained your relationship with some of your players, who by the way, some say they don’t want to go to the White House to celebrate this win?”
And Kraft unleashed the truth: That players choosing not to join their teams on the White House visit is nothing new.
“Every time we’ve had this privileged of going to the White House, a dozen of our players don’t go,” Kraft said. “This is the first time it’s gotten media attention.”
And he’s right.
During their 2015 win, Quarterback Tom Brady, among other, skipped the visit to President Barack Obama’s White House.
In 2005, the Patriots won the Super Bowl and reported that about 30 players attended President George Bush’s White House, less than half of the total roster!
But clearly Lauer didn’t do his research for this particular question.

In fact, he might be completely wrong in his suggestion that NFL players would be anti-Trump at all.
Former major league baseball player Curt Schilling told Chris Stigall on Talk Radio 1210 that he believes 80 to 85 percent of professional athletes are conservative.
He cited athletes’ lack of vocal support for failed Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, and the athletes natural appreciation of hard work, as major reasons behind his estimation.
He criticized the few athletes he’s seen come out in support of liberals, saying, “They are because it’s mainstream in the public eye to do that right now. All the rest are, for the most part, are conservative because you don’t come out and speak about stuff like that, it’s work ethic.”
Hopefully next time, Lauer will do his research, and help return integrity to the news.
