One of the ugliest sights in the world is a burning cross — and American citizens may be paying for this sickening ritual with their hard-earned tax dollars.
But you won’t find this cross in the middle of some field, late at night, surrounded by white-hooded Klansmen. Instead you’ll find it in China, where the government has pulled out all the stops to persecute Christians.
China’s government under President Xi Jinping has closed house churches, thrown pastors in jail, and even burned crosses to extinguish Christianity — making Christians the most persecutred religion in the world.
A pastor told Western reporters that “crosses, bibles and furniture were burned during a raid on his church” last September.
Beijing even took away Christmas by banning Chinese churches from celebrating last month’s holiday.
The Chinese government is forcing Christians to sign papers declaring they turn their back on Jesus — and it has big plans to use its new technology to spy on Christians.
China has “a very strong control agenda combined with a new era of digital surveillance,” according to Open Doors, a group that monitors anti-Christian persecution every year.
But don’t take their word for it. Even China’s government-controlled press admits the situation in China is the “worst since Cultural Revolution,” when Mao Zedong killed 80 million people.
And guess who’s paying for it? You are.
The U.S. owes China $1.138 trillion of our $22 trillion national debt. Every dollar the free-spending Democrats add to the deficit for “Medicare-for-All,” “free college,” and other government handouts is another payment to the cross-burners in China.
You also fund China’s Bible burning every single time you go to the store to buy their products.
China’s communist government has its hand in many products sold worldwide — and it’s collecting big time.
The U.S. trade deficit with China hit $344 billion in 2018… and believe it or not, that’s down from the Obama years.
But it’s way, way up from the Reagan years, when his strong anti-communist leadership held the trade deficit to only $6 million.
Thanks a trillion, Bush, Clinton, and Obama!
As bad as things are in China, it’s not the only persecutor of Christians in the world—or even the worst.
That award goes to North Korea, according to Open Doors’ annual report, World Watch List 2019.
One of every three Christians in Asia faces “high persecution” in Asia.
And the depth of anti-Christian persecution worldwide would make your head spin.
Globally, one out of every 9 Christians were persecuted… and 11 Christians were killed every single day in 2018.
A total of 245 million Christians were persecuted last year — 30 million more than 2017.
“Islamic radicalism continues to dominate and influence all spheres of life for Christians, and we are watching China and India very closely,” said Open Doors President and CEO David Curry. “Millions of Christians are being attacked, imprisoned or killed.”
The 10 worst countries for Christians are include multiple countries where U.S. soldiers are fighting or have died to protect their citizens’ freedom: Syria, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Yemen, and Libya.
Those countries don’t just burn Bibles. They behead, torture, and rape those who worship the risen King.
“Christian women are the most exploited group on the face of the earth today,” Curry said.
One of the reasons the partners on the ground gave is that “there are very few protests from the West against this behavior,” said Andrew Boyd of Release International.
“If she were your daughter or your sister, what you would be willing to fight for?” Curry asked.
Christians around the world must demand their governments fight back against governments that persecute believers.
Not one single dime of taxpayer money to governments that persecute Christians.
Not one single troop on the ground to protect the freedom of countries if they don’t respect Christians’ religious freedom.
It’s time America got serious. Even England’s government has launched an investigation into what the country can do to stop the persecution of Christians.
“Believers shouldn’t be treated as criminals, and the UK must fight for that to be the case across the world,” said Jeremy Hunt, the British foreign secretary.
Imagine if American politicians talked like that!
Then again, after the way the media crucified Karen Pence for working in a Christian school and the Covington High School kids from Kentucky after an adult harassed them, maybe the United States will need to be added to the list soon.
