New Orleans Police Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick struck two pedestrians with her vehicle on Saturday night, injuring one of them, according to the police department.
The incident happened around 7 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Decatur and Iberville streets in the New Orleans area, according to local New Orleans affiliate Fox 8.
Both a man and a woman were struck in the incident.
The woman was transported to a hospital in stable condition, while the man did not report any injuries.
Kirkpatrick took breathalyzer and urinalysis tests. The breathalyzer test showed no signs of alcohol consumption, returning a result of 0.00. The urinalysis results will be returned within a few days, police said.
Pictures posted on social media show Kirkpatrick was not in uniform at the time of the collision.
Local affiliate WWL Louisiana reporter Winston Reed spoke with Kirkpatrick on Monday, who issued the following statement about the incident.
“I’m so sorry for what happened last night. I’m so grateful that the two people involved really are going to be fine. Just terribly sorry. It is under investigation, and when it’s completely finished, I’m going to ask for the state patrol to look at that investigation as well. Again, terribly sorry for the whole event.”
Kirkpatrick also told Reed what happened leading up to the accident.

“I had just gone to the hospital. I had an officer injured, and I live in the neighborhood here, and I was just making a left-hand turn down there when the event occurred,” she said.
The incident remains under investigation.
