Late NASCAR superstar Greg Biffle spent his life building a legacy on the track and off it.
Someone close to his family decided to rob him blind the moment they all died in a tragic accident.
Newly released search warrants reveal that a woman with intimate knowledge of Biffle’s Mooresville, North Carolina estate broke into the home just weeks after the NASCAR legend, his wife, and their two young children were killed in a fiery plane crash on December 18, 2025.
Investigators believe she knew exactly where to look: At Biffle’s inner circle.
Biffle, 55, died along with his wife Cristina Grossu, their 5-year-old son Ryder, and 14-year-old daughter Emma when their Cessna Citation 550 crashed and burst into flames while attempting to land at Statesville Regional Airport. Three others aboard also perished; an unthinkable tragedy.
On January 7 and 8, an unknown suspect broke into the Biffle estate and spent roughly six hours inside robbing the family of their valuables. The thief walked away with tens of thousands of dollars in cash, two Glock handguns, and NASCAR memorabilia, police said.
According to the search warrant affidavit, the burglar never entered any room in the house except Biffle’s closet and safe room. The suspect knew where the cameras were. She avoided them.
Iredell County detectives also uncovered a separate fraud scheme around the same time of the burglary. Someone had used the Biffles’ personal information to access the family financial accounts and were transferring funds, beginning in the hours after the crash.
On April 23, a Superior Court judge signed off on search warrants for a residence in Denver and a commercial garage in Mooresville. Investigators executed the Denver search the same day, seizing cellphones, tablets, storage devices, clothing, and other items.
Social media users have claimed that Biffle’s friend and co-pilot, along with his wife, were the subject of those search warrants.

No arrests have yet been announced and no suspect publicly has officially been named. The investigation is ongoing.
Biffle was one of NASCAR’s all-time greats — a champion in both the Xfinity Series and Craftsman Truck Series, winner of 19 Cup Series races, and named one of NASCAR’s 75 Greatest Drivers in 2023. In his final years, he became equally known for his humanitarian work, flying helicopter rescue missions into remote Appalachian communities devastated by Hurricane Helene in 2024.
His family hadn’t been gone three weeks before someone started picking his home clean.
